From the Desk of Dr. Richard Anderson, MD FACS
Dear Colleagues,
The Illinois Chapter of the American College of Surgeons is currently celebrating its’ 60th Anniversary year.
This has been a busy and important year. As we held our 60th Anniversary Meeting in May, we were pleased to have had 22 presentations on topics ranging from Aortic Aneurysms to Surgical Critical Care.
Our 23 Fellow attendees were each able to claim the addition of up to 8.75 Continuing Medical Education Credits to their portfolios.
We listened to the presentation of Resident Papers. Monetary awards were presented to the top three Residents.
In our Annual Business Meeting it was decided to explore the potential for a combined meeting to provide additional educational opportunities, and to take advantage of shared wet clinics. In this ever difficult economic environment we are hoping to share space costs with another surgical society. Although the didactic presentations will be separate, it has been decided to meet in conjunction with the Illinois Surgical Society at Loyola on May 5th 6th and 7th.
We hope that you will add these dates to your calendar and join us as we meet in 2011.
If you have let your membership in the Illinois Chapter of the American College of Surgeons expire, 2011 will be a terrific year for you to renew and support your Chapter. Our commitment to providing CME, and a continuous sounding board for our Residents should be reason enough to renew, but the added value of net working with our peers is unprecedented. It is only through the continued support of all of our members that we are able to provide quality CME at a reasonable price.
